Editor 2.0 is a new innovative design editor based entirely on Flexbox technology (including Flex-based headers, sections, pages and footers), with an all-new canvas packed with design power and capabilities. It allows you to build the exact site you want in a fraction of the time, while working seamlessly with all Duda's existing widgets, apps, add-ons and tools.
Here’s what you and your team stand to gain with editor 2.0:
All the platform site building components you’re familiar with, like widgets, blog, store, apps and other tools remain and work exactly the same in editor 2.0. What’s changing? The design canvas itself, where you drag & drop elements and customize their design when building a site.
Here's a taste of what editor 2.0's new design canvas has to offer, compared to the current editor:
Duda is dedicated to helping web professionals like you create the next-generation of websites for your end-customers. That’s why we want our editor to be an innovative, powerful tool based on the most cutting-edge web design & development technology, while offering a fast and intuitive site building experience that doesn’t require a single line of code.
We’re gradually rolling it out to more and more Duda accounts over time. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on its release later on.
Our editor 2.0 is currently in beta and a work in progress. We keep gathering feedback and adding features and capabilities to it regularly. Until its official release, you can try it out now by signing up for your early access.
Duda will continue to support the current editor so you can keep using any custom assets you’ve created and build sites the way you’re used to. But if you’re looking for a better and faster way to build sites for clients, consider switching over to the new editor 2.0 - currently in beta and available for early adopters. Sign up for the waiting list to get your early access.
It won’t. All your existing sites will remain as they are, and you can still use Duda’s current editor with regular (non-Flex) templates to build sites. We do recommend however that you try out editor 2.0 to see how it all comes together, and get the full site building experience with its powerful design canvas.
Once editor 2.0 is live, you’ll be able to use any Flex section you’ve used in the past - these will be available and waiting for you in editor 2.0. However, non-Flex sections will no longer be available in editor 2.0. If you want to keep using the current editor, the combination of Flex and non-Flex sections within the same site will still be possible as it is today.
Yes, you’ll be able to switch between the two editors through the templates page.
All the Duda-provided tools and capabilities you’ve been using until now will remain as they are in editor 2.0. These include:
Since editor 2.0 is based entirely on Flexbox technology, any Flex-based assets you or your team have created will automatically be available in the new editor.
Custom design assets editor 2.0 supports:
Custom design assets editor 2.0 doesn’t support:
In the case of custom templates that contain a combination of Flex and non-Flex sections, only the Flex-based sections of those templates will be supported by editor 2.0. This means such custom templates won’t migrate to and won’t be available in the new editor, but their Flex-based sections will.
What you can do about your custom non-Flex templates and sections:
You can keep using these in the current editor - Duda will continue to support it. Just keep in mind these won’t migrate to editor 2.0. Another option you can consider is creating new custom assets using editor 2.0 - it will take you much less time than you think.
You’ll still be able to customize CSS files with editor 2.0 using Duda’s Dev Mode. HTML customizations won’t be available in editor 2.0, and here’s why:
The new editor is much more robust in terms of its technological infrastructure and design capabilities, so it will significantly descrease the number of cases where code customizing is needed. Customizations like overlapping elements, adding more than 4 columns and other actions can be done right from editor 2.0’s design canvas. Learn more.
